While the Cinemark and IMAX theaters offer “premium” projection and sound (as well as comfortable seating), there is another type of “premium” theater experience that takes comfort to an entirely different level. The AMC Marina 6 Dine In Theater is that kind of theater.
If you are looking for a large screen format theater with a top notch sound system in order to enjoy today’s blockbuster releases, the AMC Marina 6 Dine In Theater is probably not for you. If you are looking for the ultimate in comfort and service, this is probably where you’ll want to go.
The theaters offer limited seating and seats are generally more expensive than other theaters (coming in at around $20 and up per seat), but when you sit in these seats, you’ll understand why they cost more. These seats are wide, cushiony, come in red leather, and they recline to fit your taste. Unless you have a very high end chair in your home, these are much more comfortable than anything you’ve got.
Another advantage of going to the Marina 6 Theater is that it is limited to people who are 21 and over (They check EVERYONE’S age so don’t forget to bring your ID card. This means you can go to a matinee without having to listen to other people talking (generally speaking).
As you enter the theater, you will see the ticket office to the right and the bar/lounge area right in front of you. The area is well designed with floor to ceiling windows, is bright and cheery, and offers barstool, table, and sofa chair seating. While drinks are not cheap (show me a theater that has inexpensive food and I’ll show you a delusional person), they really don’t cost much (if any) more than you’d pay at your local restaurant. If you don’t want to sit in the lounge or wait at the bar, the ushers come to your seat and take your order. All you have to do is order up and wait for your drinks and food to arrive. My top shelf margarita was about $10 as was a fairly healthy sized pizza. In my book, it beats spending $12 or so on a box of popcorn and a soft drink (though I confess I haven’t had popcorn and a soft drink at a theater in years and don’t really know what they cost these days).
The theater itself is where it gets interesting. While the screen and sound are nothing to write home about the seats are. The theaters offer limited seating and seats are generally more expensive than at other theaters (coming in at around $20 and up per seat), but when you settle in, you’ll understand why they cost more. Overall, the AMC Marina 6 Dine-In is a specialized moviegoing experience catering to those whose first priority is comfort and service.
